The recent discovery of the HVOC contamination in the
groundwater both at our domestic well and that of our
neighbors has introduced us to a new type of problem
about which we were unfamiliar. As we have become
more educated about this problem, we have begun taking
informed steps to track the source of the
contamination, and to eventually address how to
remediate this problem. We have been providing
bottled water to our tenants since the problem was
discovered while we investigated alternative sources
of drinking water for the property. After extended
discussions with California Water Service, we were
able to establish a way of extending the existing
water main 365' to the back end of our property.
While extremely expensive, we do not see any other
workable option. This project is currently out to
bid. We expect that construction will begin in about
a month with surface drinking water available to our
property by December.
We would hope that in dealing with this very serious
problem of HVOC contamination that we could establish
a cooperative and open working partnership with your
department as we have had in the past. With this goal
in mind, I would like to arrange an appointment with
you in the near future to exchange information and
discuss the next steps needed to fairly and
objectively address this problem. I will be calling
you today but knowing you are hard to reach thought I
best get this letter in the mail as well.
Sincer ly yours,
onathan Marlowe
Manager
JM:ce
Encl.
