For comparison we
will provide you the following maximum contaminant level (MCL) as compared to the results of your well
water. All the organics tested for except the three chemicals listed below were found to be non-detectable
levels.
Results MCL
1,1-Dichloroethylene 36. 84ppb 6ppb
cis-1,2-Dichloroethylene 1. 8Oppb 6ppb
Tetrachloroethylene 1. 7Oppb 5ppb
As a temporary measure it is recommended that bottled water be provided for drinking purposes. In addition,
this Division recommends the following alternatives to mitigate the exposure from this well.
Connection to a public water system if available ie: City of Stockton, Cal-Water Service.
Provide treatment such as "granular activated carbon", it operates by passing the well water
through a charcoal bed, thereby absorbing the contaminants Water treatment equipment
supplies and installers are listed in the phone directory yellow pages under "Water Filtration and
Purification Equipment."
A replacement well is also an alternative. It is recommended that a test well be drilled first and
water quality analysis be performed prior to final placement of the well.
If you have any questions, please call Raymond Borges, Senior REEIS of my staff at (209) 468-3284.
, /LJ
Fred Kaufman, Program Manager
Environmental Health Division
cc: Mary Meays, Unit IV
A Dmsion of San Joaquin County Health Care Scrvicm
