Monitoring Well Installation Report
CAIN ELECTRICAL COMPANY
230 North Church Street, Lodi, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
In accordance with the request Herman and Ida Weber of Cain Electrical Works, Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared the enclosed well installation report for 230 North
Church Street in Lodi, California.
The site and the surrounding area are illustrated on Figure 1. Structures and boring and well locations
are illustrated on Figure 2. Background information is summarized in Appendix A.
2.0. PROCEDURES
Four ground water monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-4) were installed, developed and sampled
for analysis in August 2004. Field work was performed in accordance with guidelines issued by the
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) for the subsurface investigation
of chemical releases sites. The procedures were outlined in the Initial Site Investigation Work Plan
dated 09 January 2004 and Initial Site Investigation Work Plan - Addendum dated 29 March 2004.
2.1. DRILLING AND SAMPLING
On 12 and 13 August 2004, four soil borings were advanced at the site. The soil borings were
advanced using a CME-75HT limited access drill rig and a CME-95HT, utilizing 8.25-inch diameter
hollow-stem augers to advance borings MW-1 through MW-4. The drill rig and three-man crew were
supplied by Cascade Drilling Corporation. Auger returns generated by drilling were containerized
in plastic on-site pending disposal options.
Soil samples were collected ahead of the drill bit using a California modified split-spoon sampler
loaded with three pre-cleaned 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves. The samples were collected from
monitoring well pilot borings MW-1 through MW-4 at five-foot intervals, beginning at 5 feet below
surface grade (bsg), using a 140-pound hammer to advance the sampler. The number of blows
required to advance the sampler over each 6-inch increment of the 18-inch sampling interval was
recorded on the boring logs. Sampling equipment was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed
with water prior to each sampling run to minimize cross-contamination.
For each sample, both ends of the second or other selected sleeve were covered with Teflon sheets,
capped and sealed with tape. The samples were labeled, stored on ice and transported under chain-of-
custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a State of California Department of Health
Services (DHS)-certified analytical laboratory.
Advanced GcoEnvironmental, Inc.
