Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
RE: HARNEY LANE LANDFILL GAS CONTROL SYSTEM
The Environmental Health Division ) has received the Harney Lane Landfill Gas Control System
plans dated April 1993 prepared by Emcon Associates for the Solid Waste Division. However, more
information is needed before EHD can approve the system per the requirements of 14 CCR 17783.15 (a)
(5). A work plan should be submitted to EHD describing the system's operation, maintenance, and
testing. The following items should be addressed the plan:
1. What are the approximate zones of influence for the proposed gas extraction wells? Will the zones
of influence overlap?
2. What will be done with the landfill gas condensate?
3. What will be the depth of the extraction wells?
4. Will the gas movement equipment be capable of handling the maximum landfill gas generation rate?
5. How will individual extraction wells be monitored to insure proper functioning?
6. How will it be verified that sufficient landfill gas is being collected by the system?
Upon receipt of the above information, EHD staff will proceed with its review of the gas control system
for Harney Lane Landfill. If you have any questions, please contact Greg Oliveira, Senior Registered
Environmental Health Specialist, at 468-0341.
IO
Kauf , Program Manager
Environmen Health Division
FK/GO:lc
• cc: Bob Anderson, Calif.
