California Regional Water -2- July 19° 1988
Quality Control Board
Ground Water Monitoring:
The water monitoring report for the second quarter of 1988 for the
site is attached (Attachment 1 ) . This report was prepared by
California Water Labs, which was the lab that performed the sampling
and analysis) and contains results for all required annual and
quarterly sampling .
In addition to the water quality sampling and analysis, California
Water Labs took water level measurements in the monitoring wells and
included this information in the report . This water level data was
used by the County Department of Public Works to prepare a
groundwater level contour map and determine the groundwater velocity
beneath the site. The groundwater direction beneath the site is
south-southeast (See Attachment 2, "Approximate Surface of
Ground-Water Elevation, June 1988" ) . The approximate groundwater
velocity beneath the site is 56 feet per year (See Attachment 3,
"Groundwater Velocity Calculations From Monitoring Wells at the
Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill " ) .
Results of laboratory analyses of ground-water samples obtained from
monitoring wells at the Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill are contained
in the California Water Labs Report included as Attachment 1 . The
quality assurance data indicates that the results are of good
quality.
No volatile organic compounds analyzed for by U.S. EPA Method 601/602
were detected in any samples. Calcium, Magnesium, Chloride, Specific
Conductance, Total Dissolved Solids and Total Hardness were detected
in the groundwater sample from MW-4 at somewhat higher levels than in
the other wells sampled (see Attachment 1 ) . This was also the case in
the annual monitoring report for June 1987 (See EMCON, "Ground-water
Monitoring Plan Implementation" , August 1987) . However , the detected
levels of these parameters in MW-4 do not exceed drinking water
standards imposed under Title 22.
If you have any question regarding this reportn please contact me
at (209)468-3066.
Sincerely yours,
narw . q
 uhert , P.E.
