a
II. SCOPE OF WORK
INTRODUCTION
The work effort described below responds to the County's Request for
Proposal dated October 15, 1986.
TASK 1 - Installation of Ground-Water Monitoring Wells
Four ground-water monitoring wells will be installed at the site in
accordance with the "Ground Water Monitoring Program" prepared by
J. H. Kleinfelder & Associates, dated July 7, 1986. The final well
locations will be selected in the field with the assistance of the site
operator to choose locations that will be protected and will not inter-
fere with operations. The locations will be surveyed prior to drilling
and reference stakes will be installed to facilitate accurate measure-
ment of water levels.
The wells will be drilled using an air-rotary drilling rig. Samples
will be collected at 10-foot depth intervals to log the materials
encountered, and the intervening materials will be logged from cut-
tings. A geologist will log the encountered materials according to the
Unified Soil Classification System. Logs on pertinent forms will be
prepared for submittal to the Department of Water Resources. The work
will be performed under the direct supervision of a registered geologist
pursuant to the requirements of Subchapter 15.
Drilling will be interrupted at 50-foot depth intervals for about
30 minutes to check for water. Drilling will be resumed if no water is
detected in the well .
When water is encountered, the sampling frequency will be increased to
5-foot intervals to better identify aquifer materials. If no imperme-
able zone is encountered 40 feet below the water table, the well will be
installed to that depth. If a confined or semi-confined condition is
PRA 8607-37A 3
Emcon Associates
