The system consists of a powerful
vacuum fan and 12-inch diameter air conditioning hose. The fan islaced with one length
of the hose at the borehole to draw in air and a second length of hose is placed to
discharge the air to an area approximately 40 feet downwind from the drill site.
In addition to ventilating the boreholes, a Photovac TIP, using a photoionization detector
(PID), a combustible gas analyzer and a hydrogen sulfide gas meter will be used to provide
a qualitative screening of soil samples and air. The crew will be using respirators equipped
with combination acid gas and organic vapor cartridges. This requirement is included in
F18-91-65 2
Copyright 1991 KleinfeLder, Inc.
