III. REGULATIONS
In June, 1990, the California Integrated Waste Management Board
(CIWMB) issued Regulations governing closure and postclosure of
solid waste disposal facilities. These regulations require that
a landfill gas monitoring network be installed at solid waste
landfills. It is further required that the landfill gas be
monitored to determine if gas is migrating off site. This Gas
Monitoring Plan is designed to comply with the CIWMB's regulations
for closure and postclosure.
IV. SPECIFIC PLANS
Twelve gas monitoring wells will be installed around the perimeter
of the Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill. The proposed locations of
the monitoring wells are shown on figure 3 (attached) . The wells
will be spaced no more than 1000 feet apart and will be more
concentrated on the west side of the landfill between the site and
the Labor Camp.
Each Monitoring well will contain three monitoring probes which
will be placed at different depths (figure 4) . Each well bore will
be a minimum of 30 feet deep and 611 in diameter. One monitoring
probe will be placed at the maximum depth of the well bore, one at
approximately one half the depth of the well bore, and one at
approximately 5 feet below the ground surface. The depth of each
probe maybe adjusted depending on the subsurface environment which
can be determined during drilling.
5
