Stantec
April 30, 2010
Reference: First Quarter 2010 Site Status, Groundwater Monitoring and Remedial Summary Report-
Stockton Terminals Technical Committee Facilities
Appendix C -Stantec Standard Procedures
To help assure the quality of the collected samples and to evaluate the potential for cross
contamination during transport to the laboratory, a distilled-water trip blank accompanies the
samples in the cooler. The trip blank is analyzed for the presence of volatile organic
compounds. For petroleum hydrocarbons, the trip blank is typically analyzed for TPHg, BTEX,
and MTBE by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8260.
Containment and Disposal of Generated Water
Purge water generated during the field activities is temporarily stored within a polyethylene tank
kept at the Tesoro Terminal. The purge water is sampled and upon satisfactory analytical
results from the samples, the water is removed from the Site via vacuum tanker truck by an
approved subcontractor.
Related Procedures:
• Standard Procedure for Equipment Decontamination
