Stantec
April 30, 2010
Reference: First Quarter 2010 Site Status, Groundwater Monitoring and Remedial Summary Report-
Stockton Terminals Technical Committee Facilities
Appendix D-Analytical Program Description, Field Data Sheets, Groundwater Certified
Laboratory Analytical Reports, and Chain-of-Custody Documentation
ANALYTICAL PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
In accordance with the MRP (Appendix A), samples were submitted for the following analyses:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) by EPA Method 8260B,
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8260B,
• Methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) by EPA Method 8260B, and
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd) by EPA Method 8015 Modified.
Samples from selected wells were analyzed for the following fuel oxygenates by EPA Method
8260B based on historical detections in those wells as required by the MRP.
• Di-isopropyl ether (DIPE),
• Ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE),
• Tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA),
• Tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME),
• Ethanol, and
• Methanol.
QA/QC samples
Three trip blanks (QCTB-1, QCTB-2, and QCTB-3) were submitted with the first quarter 2010
samples. None of the analytes were detected at or above MRLs in any of the samples
(Tables 6 and 7).
Three equipment blanks (QCEB-1, QCEB-2, and QCEB-3) were collected during first quarter
monitoring and sampling activities. None of the analytes, with the exception of methanol, were
detected at or above MRLs in any of the equipment blanks (Tables 6 and 7). Methanol was
detected in one of the equipment blanks at a concentration of 56 pg/L, well below the WQO for
methanol.
Duplicate samples were collected from "A" zone well PS/MW-20A (labeled QCDup-1), "B" zone
well AR/MW-8B (labeled QCDup-2), and "D" zone well TS/MW-2D (labeled QCDup-3) (Tables 6
and 7).
Analytical Results
Certified laboratory analytical reports, chain-of-custody documentation, and field data sheets for
first quarter 2010 are included in this Appendix.
The summary tables on the following pages provide a concise overview of groundwater quality
and cleanup progress by comparing results with WQOs and also presents average and median
