Appendix F:Data Usability Summary
A summary of qualified data is provided in Table F-1. Data validation reason codes for all
qualified data are also provided and defined on Table F-1.
Precision and Accuracy
The precision and accuracy of field and laboratory QC samples were evaluated. The calculated
relative percent differences (RPDs)for field duplicate and matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate
(MS/MSD)pairs provided information on the precision of sampling and analytical procedures.
The RPDs for laboratory control sample/laboratory control sample duplicates (LCS/LCSDs)
provided information on the precision of the analytical procedures. Evaluation of the percent
recoveries (%Rs) of MS/MSDs,LCS/LCSDs, and surrogates provided information on accuracy.
LCS/LCSDs
An LCS was analyzed with each analytical batch of samples. An LCSD was analyzed with some
batches of samples. The%Rs for all LCS and LCSDs were within the laboratory control limits
with the following exceptions. The %Rs for benzo(a)pyrene, benzo(b)fluoranthene, and
benzo(k)fluoranthene were below the laboratory control limit in the LCS associated with
groundwater samples SB-44-W-100720, SB-45-W-100722, SB-46-W-100721, and SB-47-W-
100721 collected on July 20, 2010. The%Rs for 1-methylnaphthalene and naphthalene were
above the laboratory control limit in the LCS associated with groundwater samples SB-44-W-
100720, SB-45-W-100722, SB-46-W-100721, and SB-47-W-100721 collected on July 20, 2010.
The results were qualified E as estimated.
Surrogates
Surrogate recoveries were evaluated for all methods. All surrogates were within laboratory
control limits, with one exception. The%Rs for terphenyl-d14,used in the analysis of PAHs,
was below the laboratory control limit in sample SB-45-S-5-100720. The%R was 50 percent,
1 percent below the control limit of 51 percent. Since the%R was a marginal exceedence and
the other two surrogates used in the analysis were within the control limits it is unlikely the
associated results would be biased significantly. Therefore, no data were qualified.
Field Duplicate
One groundwater field duplicate was submitted with the samples in this data set. Groundwater
sample SB-44-WD-100720 is a field duplicate of SB-44-W-100720. Benzo(a)pyrene and
phenanthrene were detected in the parent sample but not in the field duplicate, and naphthalene
and TPHd were detected in the field duplicate but not in the parent sample. RPDs were not
calculated because the analytes were not detected in both samples. However, because the
detections for benzo(a)pyrene, phenanthrene, naphthalene, and TPHd were not confirmed in both
the parent samples and the field duplicates, they were qualified E as estimated.
MS/MSDs
One project-specific MS/MSD sample was collected with groundwater sample SB-44-W-
100720. The%Rs for naphthalene were above the laboratory control limit in the MS and MSD
prepared from sample SB-44-W-100720. No data were qualified because the associated results
were non-detect and the samples were determined not to be affected by a high bias.
F-3 'Mair ?J The Benham Companies,LLC
,i`!', FW714nnavl S.,btld:ary
