Stantec
L & M OPERABLE UNIT- FOURTH QUARTER AND ANNUAL 2012 SITE STATUS,
REMEDIAL SUMMARY, AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
February 1, 2013
6.0 Annual Summary of Remediation - 2012
6.1 DPE SYSTEM OPERATIONAL AND ANALYTICAL SUMMARY- 2012
6.1.1 DPE System 2012 Operational Summary
During 2013 (December 15, 2011 through December 21, 2012), the DPE system (GWE and
SVE combined) was 9.9% operational (36.6 out of 372 days). The system was shut down with
the approval of the RWQCB-CVR on October 13, 2011. Due to low mass removal rates, the
system remained non-operational to monitor the response in wells DPE-1 through DPE-13. On
May 3, 2012 the system was rebound tested; during the test product or sheen was observed in
seven of the DPE wells with a maximum of 0.76 feet observed in well 2AMW-14. To treat the
sheen and product, Stantec started the system on May 8, 2012 and left it operational for the rest
of the month. The system was intentionally left off during the months of June and July. A
carbon change-out event was conducted on August 10, 2012. On August 15, 2012, during
system startup, it was determined that the discharge water meter was broken. The system was
left off until August 22, 2012 when the meter was replaced and the system restarted. The
system was found down on arrival on August 31, 2012 due to a faulty high LEL alarm and left
nonoperational until the LEL sensor could be addressed. On September 5, 2012 the LEL
sensor was fixed. Prior to startup a final system inspection revealed that the system's chart
recorder needed replacement. An identical made to order Honeywell chart recorder was
identified and purchased. The replacement chart recorder was received in late November and
installed on December 7, 2012. After installation the DPE system was restarted. The system
was found down on arrival on December 21, 2012 due to a high level alarm and restarted
without incident. The system will be left operational during 1013 based on field conditions.
I:\Tidewater\TW Stockton(P2A)\QMRs\2012\4Q12-Ann ual\4Q12 and Annual QSSR QRSR QMR Stockton_FINAL.doc 6.1
