Stantec
L & M OPERABLE UNIT- FOURTH QUARTER AND ANNUAL 2012 SITE STATUS,
REMEDIAL SUMMARY, AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
Annual Summary of Remediation-2012
February 1, 2013
6.2 ASVE SYSTEM OPERATIONAL AND ANALYTICAL SUMMARY- 2012
During 2012 (December 15, 2011 to December 21, 2012) the ASVE system was 53%
operational (197.7 out of 372 days). The ASVE system is periodically shut down to
accommodate quarterly site monitoring and sampling. The system experienced a period of
downtime during the first quarter as a result of transfer pump malfunction. The transfer pump
plumbing was replaced on February 27, 2012. The system spark arrestor was cleaned on
March 28, 2012 and April 20, 2012. On June 22, 2012 the system was found down due to a
high level alarm in the oil/water separator. The system was shut down on August 10, 2012 and
restarted on August 22, 2012 to accommodate a carbon change out event for the DPE system.
On September 21, 2012 and October 4, 2012 the system was found down on arrival as a
possible result of transfer pump malfunction. On November 9, 2012 the ASVE system blower
overload was found tripped and the system found down on arrival. On December 7, 2012 the
system was found down on arrival. Upon attempted restart it was discovered that the
combustion blower was malfunctioning. On December 21, 2012 the combustion blower motor
was removed and brought to a motor shop for repair. The motor will be repaired, reinstalled,
and the system restarted during January 2013.
During 2012 ASVE the system removed approximately 15.8 lbs. of TPHg, 0.022 lbs. of
benzene, and 0.050 lbs. of MtBE from soil vapor beneath the Delta View Apartments (below).
Approximate Approximate Approximate
Hour TPHg Benzene MtBE
Meter Recovery Recovery Recovery
Date Reading 2012 2012 2012
Sampled (hours) (lbs.)
