GE
GENESIS ENGINEERING & REDEVELOPMENT
April 3, 2012
Ms.Adrienne Ellsaesser
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
600 E. Main Street
Stockton,California 95202
Subject: Revisions to Work Plan
Former Arcady Oil Disposal Property
Whiskey Slough Road, Holt,CA
Dear Ms. Ellsaesser:
Genesis Engineering&Redevelopment, Inc. has modified the proposed work scope for collecting soil
samples to establish background soil concentrations for the former Arcady Oil Disposal Property because
of the shallow groundwater encountered in the sampling location. Each borehole will now be advanced to
a depth of 12 feet below grade using direct push drilling technology. A track mounted drill rig will be
used to access the proposed boring locations. Continuous soil core will be collected for the purpose of
lithologic logging. For the purpose of chemical testing, one six-inch long sample of native material will
be collected from a selected depth interval below the water table at each borehole. In addition,a
reconnaissance groundwater sample will be collected from a second borehole immediately adjacent to
each initial borehole. The depth of the second borehole will be determined based on the depth interval
selected for the soil sample from the adjoining borehole(the soil sample and the reconnaissance
groundwater sample will be collected from the same depth intervals for each pair of borings). A total of
26 boreholes, 13 for soil sampling and 13 for reconnaissance groundwater sampling, will be advanced.
Each borehole will be abandoned using hydrated bentonite, which will extend from the bottom of the
borehole to approximately 5 feet below grade. The top of each borehole will be backfilled with native
material.
Copies of the laboratory reports and tabulated analytical data will be submitted to San Joaquin County
Department of Environmental Health within 60 days of sample collection.
If you have any questions or comments, please call me at(209)599-2004.
Sincerely,
Genesis Engineering&Redevelopment,Inc.
k__
DCooper
Senior Project Manager
Attachments
Genesis Engineering&Redevelopment
351 Ruess Road,Ripon, California 95366
Phone:209.599.2004 • Fax 209.433.3990
