Ms. Kim Schwab -2-
REPAIR OF CLOSURE CAP AND OTHER DRAINAGE FEATURES
HARNEY LANE SANITARY LANDFILL
downdrains; however, gradual settlement of the landfill surface allowed ponding along the
intended flow path. This situation was corrected and most of the berm removed (and the soil
incorporated into the other surface improvements) in the Reconditioning Project. However,
some of the berm material remained, and was washed down across the vegetative layer below
(Figure 3 and Photo 9).
Repair of the Secondary Site consisted of adding additional soil to provide smooth contours in
the area where soil had been lost, and compacting the surfaces involved. This restoration was
inspected and approved by the LEA (Photo 10). Additional work to improve drainage features
on the Secondary Site include the installation of additional downcomer pipes and berm to funnel
water away from the areas that had been eroded this past winter.
If you have any questions, please call me at(209) 468-3066.
Sincerely,
W.
