condensate and an approximate location of the condensate accumulation. The header will
be reset to remove such areas of accumulation.
REPORTING
The results of the additional monitoring will be included in the quarterly migration monitoring
report for the Harney Lane Landfill. Additional reports may be made as appropriate.
The County will notify the Local Enforcement Agency(LEA) and the Migrant Labor Housing
facility immediately if combustible gas above 1.25% is detected in any foundation vent.
LFG SYSTEM EVALUATION
Purpose
The purpose of this report is to evaluate the effectiveness of the landfill gas (LFG) collection
system at the Harney Lane Landfill,to assess its ability to control subsurface migration. This
evaluation is especially focused on the perimeter of the landfill adjacent to the migrant labor
housing facility, immediately west of the landfill(Figure 1).
The following system characteristics were evaluated:
• Well spacing
• Continuity of Landfill Cap
• Pipe size
• Blower Capacity
Conclusion
Based on this evaluation, the LFG system appears to have excess capacity to control subsurface
LFG migration. However, this evaluation identifies an area of the Secondary Site, near migration
monitoring well GW-3, where collection of LFG from the refuse may be limited. A new well is
proposed to increase LFG collection from this area.
LFG Collection Well Spacing
The adequacy of the spacing of the LFG collection wells is assessed by comparing the distance
between wells to the radius of influence of each well.
The"radius of influence" is that distance from the well in which the LFG can reasonably be
expected to be captured. For the purpose of this study, the radius of influence is assumed to be
Remediation Plan for LFG Migration 4 San Joaquin County Public Works/Solid Waste
Hamey Lane Sanitary Landfill Revised December 14,2004
