Appendix C:Data Usability Summary and Analytical Reports
and therefore reduced, a UJL flag was applied to non-detect results and a JL to detect results of the non-
compliant samples.
Completeness
Completeness is defined as the number of valid results(i.e.,those not rejected)divided by the total
number rejected. Based on this evaluation of the data against the QC objectives, the percentages of valid
data for each method and matrix are as follow.
Completeness (%)
COC Water Soil
TPHc --- 100
TPHd 100 ---
TPHdsg 82 ---
TPHg 91 ---
BTEX 82 100
PAHs 100 100
The completeness for TPHdsg,TPHg, and BTEX in groundwater was not 100%due to sample results that
were rejected for LCS/LCSD%Recoveries and sample pH levels, as described in the preceding sections.
However, the overall completeness exceeds the project goal of 95%, and sufficient valid data were
generated to use for their intended purposes.
Comparability
Based on the data evaluation, it was concluded that the data are comparable with other laboratory data for
similar samples and sample conditions. The sample collection techniques,EPA test methods, detection
limits, analytical laboratory(Lancaster),units of measure, and sample preparation procedures were
selected to ensure data comparability.
Summary
Based on SAIC's evaluation, all analytical data that have not been rejected are usable as qualified for the
purpose of determining COC concentrations in groundwater at the site. Rejected data should not be used
for direct comparison to the action levels.
Because low LCS/LCSD percent recoveries demonstrate a low bias, and because laboratory results are
non-detectable concentrations above the action level, indicating possible false negatives, the results for
TPHdsg were rejected for the following groundwater samples:
• SB-22-W-35-050517; and
• SB-23-W-35-050518.
In addition, the following groundwater sample results were rejected, because they were not preserved
within the required conditions:
• TPHg in sample SB-22-W-35-050517; and
C-3 From Science to Solutions-
