No Further Action Required Determi n - 4 - 8 June 2010
Vernalis Offsite
Vernalis, San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties
Summary: According to the investigative results, the downgradient extent of affected
groundwater is limited in extent and has been adequately delineated. The low
concentrations of residual petroleum hydrocarbon compounds detected at the Site are
highly immobile and will continue to naturally degrade with time.
Based on the investigative findings, it is anticipated that the residual crude oil remaining
would not present an unacceptable threat of direct human exposure for the residential use
scenario.
Consistent with State Water Board Resolution No. 92-049, an evaluation of alternative
cleanup technologies other than natural attenuation are ineffective, not easily implemented,
and/or disproportionally costly in comparison to benefits.
Groundwater monitoring wells associated with the Site have been properly destroyed.
No public comments were received during a 30-day public notice period.
