/?ZnE <br /> GEOMATRIX <br /> REPORT OF SOIL AND <br /> GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION <br /> Former Roberts Property <br /> Vernalis, California <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This report presents results of field activities performed by Geomatrix Consultants, Inc. <br /> (Geomatrix),on behalf of Chevron Environmental Management Company (ChevronTexaco) at <br /> the Former Roberts Property (Former Vernalis Pump Station)located in Vernalis, California <br /> (the site; Figure 1). This site is located at 35500 Welty Road within the northern portion of the <br /> former Vemalis Pump Station. The field investigation activities described in this report were <br /> conducted in May 2002. The scope of the investigation included advancing six soil borings to <br /> collect soil and/or grab groundwater samples, collecting groundwater samples from three <br /> existing on-site monitoring wells, and measuring separate phase petroleum in a fourth on-site <br /> monitoring well. <br /> ''Work was performed in accordance with Geomatrix's April 3, 2002 Soil and Groundwater <br /> Sampling Work Plan (Work Plan) and a May 17,2002 Amendments to April 3, 2002 Soil and <br /> Groundwater Sampling Work Plan (Amendments) letter from ChevronTexaco to the California <br /> Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (RWQCB). The Work Plan was <br /> submitted and subsequently approved with the Amendments by the San Joaquin County Public <br /> Health Services(SJC-PHS) and the RWQCB. <br /> The purpose of this investigation was to obtain data to assess the vertical extent of petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon-affected soil,to assess the presence of BTEX and PAHs in shallow soil, and to <br /> evaluate groundwater quality beneath and in the vicinity of the site. This report contains a brief <br /> summary of previous work conducted, a description of the objectives of this investigation and <br /> sampling activities performed in May 2002, the results obtained from this investigation, and <br /> conclusions regarding site conditions based on data collected to date.
