GGOMAYRIX
® groundwater samples were collected from previously installed on-site monitoring wells
(MW-2,MW-3, and MW-4) and an off-site monitoring well WFSMW-1, which is located on
the WFS property north and downgradient of the site (Figure 3). Prior to sampling the wells,
water levels were measured and the presence of separate-phase petroleum was evaluated using
a hydrocarbon-water interface probe.
On-site wells MW-2> p Y MW-3 and MW-4 were sampled b a Geomatrix field technician after a
® minimum of four casing volumes of water had been removed from each well using a clean dis-
posable bailer. Water-quality parameters measured and recorded during purging included pH,
specific electrical conductance, turbidity, and temperature. The clarity of the water also was
observed. After water-quality parameters stabilized (a minimum of three consecutive readings
with values within 10 percent for each parameter), groundwater samples .were collected using a
new polyethylene disposable bailer. The off-site monitoring well, WFSMW-1, was purged by
Blaine Tech field technicians using a submersible Grundfos pump and then sampled by a
® Geomatrix field technician using a disposable bailer.
The groundwater samples were collected in accordance with Geomatrix protocols and decanted
into acidified 40-milliliter volatile organic analysis(VOA) vials and 1-liter amber bottles pro-
vided by the laboratory. Sample containers were labeled, sealed in plastic bags, and placed
immediately in an ice-cooled chest for subsequent delivery to F&B under Geomatrix chain-of-
custody procedures.
® Development water and cleaning rinsate were placed in steel 55-gallon drums, identified with
pending analysis labels, and temporarily stored at the site pending future off-site disposal by
r ChevronTexaco.
4.3 ANALYTICAL METHODS
Soil samples were analyzed for TPH quantified as crude oil (TPHc; C10-C36 carbon range)
using EPA Method 8015 Modified; BTEX using EPA Method 8021 B; and polynuclear aro-
matic hydrocarbons (PAHs) using EPA Method 8270 SIM. Additionally, the shallow soil
samples (i.e., 5 and 10 feet bgs) collected from boring GMX-1B were analyzed for VOCs using
EPA Method 8260B.
IloakI\deptdata\Doc_Safe16000s16447.00I\ReponlUS Can S616 Rpt.doc 7
