3.12 MINERAL RESOURCES
Would the project:
a) Result in the loss of availability of a known mineral
resource that would be of value to the region and the
residents of the state?
b) Result in the loss of availability of a locally important
mineral resource recovery site delineated on a local general
plan, specific plan, or other land use plan?
NARRATIVE DISCUSSION
Environmental Setting
Less Than
Significant
Potentially with
Significant Mitigation
Impact Incorporated
Less Than
Significant
Impact No Impact
As mandated by the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act, the California Geological
Survey has classified mineral resource development potential of lands in counties into an
appropriate Mineral Resource Zone (MRZ), in accordance with the California Mineral
Land Classification System. Local agencies are required to use this information when
developing land use plans and when making land use decisions. The County has
designated the project site as MRZ-1, indicating areas where adequate information
indicates that no significant mineral deposits are present, or where it is judged that little
likelihood exists for their presence. The San Joaquin County General Plan Background
Report indicates there are no oil or natural gas wells in the project vicinity (San Joaquin
County 2016a).
Environmental Impacts and Mitigation Measures
a, b) Loss of Mineral Resource Availability.
Although the project site is in an area designated MRZ-1, there is currently no active
mineral resource operations on the project site or in the vicinity. No gas wells are in the
area. Therefore, the project would have no impact on the availability or extraction of
mineral resources.
3.13 NOISE
Would the project result in:
a) Generation of a substantial temporary or permanent
increase in ambient noise levels in the vicinity of the project
in excess of standards established in the local general plan or
Less Than
Significant
Potentially with Less Than
Significant Mitigation Significant
Impact Incorporated Impact No Impact
Pock Lane Public Review Draft IS/MND 3-52 May 2022
