Our efforts to locate this well on County property have been less
than satisfactory, so we must seek an off-site location which is assured not to be impacted by our landfill.
Based on our knowledge of subsurface groundwater flow directions, an ideal location would be on your
property located at Harney Lane and Tully Road, which is immediately north of the landfill. I must
therefore seek your permission to install a groundwater monitoring well on your property, to allow the
County to comply with the new permit requirement.
Please know that your water is not threatened by our landfill, to the best of our knowledge. Recent
analyses from five wells providing drinking water to properties adjacent to the landfill indicated excellent
water quality and no contamination.
I would very much like to discuss this with you further, and would be free to meet you at that property at a
time convenient to you. Or if you have any questions, please call me at (209) 468-8504; 1 have enclosed
my card for your reference.
Sincerely,
W.
