We find that the
report is complete as shown on the attached Monitoring Report Compliance Checklist. In summary, the
report states that there are slight upward trends for chloride, sodium, TDS &EC in MW-2 and sulfate in
MW-8. Constituents of concern (COCs) are greater than background in MW-1RD, MW-2, -3, -6, -9 and
—11. Mann-Kendall trend analysis shows an upward trend in MW-2.
We note your request to revise Monitoring and Reporting Program Order No. 96-176 reduce semi-
annual monitoring to annual monitoring. Because COCs are greater than background concentrations and
some wells are showing increasing trends in the data, we maintain that semi-annual monitoring continue,
at a minimum. This issue was discussed with Nancy Hendrickson via telephone on 1 August 2002.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (916) 255-3137 or schwabk@rb5s.swrcb.ca.gov.
4:z 6t VXJC(//—
KIM
A.
