Work Plan
Limited Phase II Soil Sampling
Reilla
West Ott Road and South Wolfe Road
French Camp, California
Tetra Tech EM, Inc. (Tetra Tech) proposes the following scope of work to conduct a Limited
Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) of the Reilla property (target property), located
southwest of the corner of West Ott Road and South Wolfe Road, in French Camp, San Joaquin
County, California. The property currently consists primarily as agricultural land and a rural
residence.
Tetra Tech's review of regulatory information while performing a Phase I ESA of the target
property identified potential environmental issues associated with a former underground storage
tank (UST) at an adjacent property. The adjacent property, the Raymond Muller residential and
dairy property, is located at 9251 South Wolfe Road. According to Mr. Rick Riella, the current
property owner, the UST was located approximately 25 feet north of the target property
boundary, west of the house and in the area of the two existing aboveground storage fuel tanks.
The tank was installed in 1980 and removed within 2 to 3 years from the installation date.
Records reviewed at the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD)
indicate that a 10,000 gallon diesel UST was installed on the property in 1985 and removed in
1989. Records on file with the SJCEHD were limited due to the farm tank exemption status and
those reviewed did not indicate spills, leaks or inspection during the time of the UST removal.
Tetra Tech will advance three soil borings along the northern boundary of the target property
adjacent to the location of the former UST using direct push drilling technology to assess possible
impacts from the UST. The three direct push borings will be advanced to groundwater (estimated
to be 30' bgs) for collection of grab groundwater samples. Groundwater samples will be analyzed
for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) — purgeable, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
xylenes (BTEX) and oxygenates. Each soil boring will be backfilled with grout.
The results of the investigation will be documented in a Phase 11 ESA report.
