Six of the borings will be converted into groundwater
monitoring wells. The borings will extend to maximum depth of 50 feet and the monitoring wells
will extend to maximum depth of 25 feet.
Drilling and Sampling:
1. Equipment:
Taber Exploration will use a CME 55 rig mounted on a truck. The rig is
approximately 8' wide by 15' long.
A support truck approximately 8' wide by 15' long will be on site to carry water
tank and materials (such as cement bag, sand, bentonite chips, etc.).
Terrasearch will also bring a pickup truck. We will drill and sample as follows:
Procedure:
t A
Drill through the soils

method and take Modified with 6-inch hollow
p
stem
15 drilling
California (MC) and standard penetration test (SPT) samples of the soil materials
encountered. Take samples in the upper 1 to 5 feet at each boring location.
Samples will be collected every 5 feet below depth of 5 feet.
After determining the depth to the water bearing layer in the field, we will install a
well to monitor groundwater elevation. The monitoring wells will extend to
maximum depth of 25 feet. Then, we install a maximum 25-foot long slotted PVC
pipe in each monitoring well. Annular space around the slotted section of the pipe
will be filled with sand or gravel. An approximately 2 foot seal will be
constructed above the sand/gravel pack using soil cuttings. This operation will be
conducted under the observation of the SJEHD inspector.
5- cr)
