Air Sparging Pilot Test Related Activities Report and Remedial Action Work Plan
Former Countryside Market, Stockton, California April 30, 2015
Toluene was detected above the laboratory reporting limits in five soil samples analyzed at
concentrations ranging from 0.0061 mg/kg in OBS-1-106 to 220 mg/kg in VW-1-40;
Ethylbenzene was detected above the laboratory reporting limits in six soil samples at
concentrations ranging from 0.0026 mg/kg in OBS-1-106 to 130 mg/kg in VW-1-40;
Total xylenes were detected above the laboratory reporting limits in six soil samples at
concentrations ranging from 0.014 mg/kg in OBS-1-106 to 720 mg/kg in VW-1-40;
Naphthalene was detected above the laboratory reporting limits in six soil samples at
concentrations ranging from 0.0032 mg/kg in OBS-1-06 to 96 mg/kg in VW-1-40; and
EDB and 1,2-DCA were detected at concentrations of 0.0026 and 0.044 mg/kg respectively
in AS-2-95.
Soil sample results are provided in Table 1 and illustrated on Figure 3. Laboratory analytical
reports are included in Appendix E.
3.6.2 Soil Sample Physical Properties
To facilitate remedial design, two soil samples were collected from OBS-1 at 110.5 feet bgs and
VW-1 at 45 feet bgs. The retrieved stainless steel sleeves were capped with Teflon® tape, labeled,
sealed in a Ziploc® bag. Sample identifications were recorded on a chain-of-custody (COO) and
delivered to PTS Laboratories, Inc. of Santa Fe Springs, California, at the end of drilling activities.
Sample V1N-1 collected at 45 feet bgs was analyzed for vadose zone soil properties by methods
API RP 40 and ASTM D2216 and sample OBS-1 collected at 110.5 feet bgs was analyzed for
hydraulic conductivity properties by methods API RP 40, ASTM D2216 and EPA 9100. Soil
sample physical properties sample results are summarized in Table 2. Complete laboratory data is
included in Appendix E.
3-4 The Source Group, Inc.
