02 May 2013
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0559
One or more benzene, toluene, ethyl-benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX)
compounds were reported in wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, MW-5A and
MW-7A above the minimum detection levels of the analysis procedures. BTEX
maximum concentrations were reported in well MW-2 at 240 pg/I (benzene), 25 pg/I
(toluene), 680 pg/I (ethyl-benzene) and 422 pg/I (total xylenes).
The fuel additive methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) and/or tertiary butyl ether (TBA)
contaminants were reported in wells MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, MW-5A, MW-7A and
MW-12 at maximum concentrations of 1,000 pg/I (MTBE [MW-4]) and 2,300 pg/I
(TBA [MW-7A]), respectively.
HU3 and HU4:
Depths to groundwater ranged from 48.50 feet btoc (MW-11) to 50.00 feet btoc
(MW-6B). Groundwater elevations ranged between 24.06 feet (MW-11) and 24.60
feet (MW-6B) below NAVD88; an average decrease of 0.62 feet since the last
monitoring event.
Groundwater was inferred to be flowing toward the southeast at a gradient of
0.003 ft/ft (Figure 4).
TPH-g were reported in groundwater samples collected from wells MW-5B, MW-7B
and MW-11 at a maximum concentration of 3,900 pg/I (MW-7B).
One or more BTEX compounds were reported in wells MW-5B and MW-7B at
maximum concentrations in well MW-7B of 450 pg/I (benzene), 1,200 pg/I (toluene),
160 pg/I (ethyl-benzene) and 780 pg/I (total xylenes).
Fuel additive MTBE, TBA and/or t-amyl methyl ether (TAME) were reported in
intermediate wells MW-5B, MW-7B and MW-11 at maximum concentrations of
760 pg/I (MTBE [MW-11), 1,300 pg/I (TBA [MW-5B]) and 14 (TAME [MW-713]).
No additional analytes were reported at or above laboratory detection limits in the
groundwater samples analyzed. Analytical results of current and historical groundwater
samples are summarized in Table 2. The Laboratory report (CTEL Project No. CT214-
1212100), quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reports and chain of custody
forms are included in Appendix D. Electronic deliverable format (EDF) files and depth-to-
water data were uploaded to the State GeoTracker database under confirmation numbers
9517490446 and 9908586025.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
