maps may be constructed which will show the distribution of hydrocarbons
and organic lead. By using these maps remedial actions can be assessed.
5.5 Task 5 - Remedial Action Alternatives Analysis
The general results of preliminary site observations and the visual
and chemical analyses of soil and groundwater samples will be reviewed to
establish recommendations for remediation. In particular, the design and
location of any trenches required for product recovery and containment of
product migration will be finalized. The need for other measures such as
installation of impermeable slurry walls sr a. series of pumping wells to
control movement of groundwater containing dissolved fuel constituents will
also be evaluated.
Remedial activities will be developed in close cooperation with SPPL
and the various state regulatory agencies and will be consistent with the
findings of the site investigation, the remedial action objectives, and
public health and environmental concerns.
5.6 Task 6 - Report Preparation
It is the goal of this project that the data base for the site will be
sufficient to produce engineering design analysis and specifications for
the selected long range remedial action. A final report will be issued at
the conclusion of the project which will summarize the field and analytical
data, interpretations of the data and designs for any proposed remedial
action.
5.7 Schedule
A tentative schedule for implementation of the work plan is presented
in Drawing 8.
5-5
I1M
