organics, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) via EPA Method 8260.
A total of 4 soil vapor samples are proposed and will be installed at 5 feet bgs in the same
location as the soil borings. The soil vapor samples will be analyzed for volatile organic
compounds (VOCs) and total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline using EPA
Method TO15.
The depth to groundwater beneath the subject property is not specifically known;
however, but according to EFI's research, is expected to be approximately 15 feet bgs.
Therefore, groundwater is not expected to be encountered during this investigation.
The attached Figure 2 illustrates the proposed boring locations. Exact locations of the soil
borings will be determined at the time of pre-marking the site and after utilities are
cleared. Analysis of soil samples will be chosen based on field observations, depth to
groundwater (if applicable), and/or PID readings.
The objective of the sampling plan is to evaluate the risk of a release from the former
fueling and repair operations at the property location. Depending on the results, a
Johnson and Ettinger Model may be included as part of this scope to determine if vapor
concerns are a health risk for future building occupants.
Note that the number of samples collected may vary depending on field conditions.
Locations will be determined at time of field investigation and are anticipated to be
within proximity to the former suspect areas of concern.
Pre-drilling Activities
Perform Site Visit to verify existing conditions and pre-mark boring locations and
notify Underground Service Alert (USA) of the intent to excavate or drill and use
standard care to avoid potential damage to subsurface utilities.
A Site-specific Health and Safety Plan (Level D Health & Safety according to OSHA
CFR 1910.120, will be prepared.
Obtain approved permit to drill from the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department
Soil Sampling Methodology
A full access and/or limited access push probe rig with a licensed operator will be
mobilized to the site to complete the proposed scope of drilling and sampling activities.
All down-hole sampling equipment will be cleaned before starting a soil boring, with a
non-phosphate detergent and water before each use.
FR will backfill each boring with the following method: Tremmie pipe to bottom of
bore hole and emplace cement grout to depth of 5 inches, then cap with cement.
Collect soil samples at 5-foot intervals beginning at 5 feet, or at significant changes in
lithology. Attempt to collect the lowermost sample at or immediately above the
groundwater level if groundwater is encountered during drilling.
18-22 East 1 Ph Street, Tracy California
Site Assessment Work Plan
4 Fulcrum Resources Environmental
