Alan M. Buehler, P.G.
Engineering Geologist
Quick-N-Save #2 2 - 22 May 2017
2057 El Dorado Street
Stockton, San Joaquin County
Stratus proposed the CPT borings to delineate the lateral and vertical extent of hydrocarbon
impact to groundwater, and the hand-auger borings to assess the nature of the release in the
vicinity of the former waste oil tank. Stratus also proposes to collect an additional soil sample
from approximately 3 feet bgs in the vicinity of CPT-3 and CPT-4 for to establish background
metals concentrations.
As the proposed boring locations and sampling are appropriate for the intended purposes, and
consistent with Central Valley Water Board requests made in a 27 January 2017 letter, Central
Valley Water Board staff concurs with the scope of work as proposed in the Work Plan.
By 25 August 2017, please submit an Assessment Report, detailing the completion of the
proposed field activities and subsequent findings. Please also include a geologic cross section
which depicts on-site locations including CPT-2C, as well as off-site MW-7 and CPT-3/CPT-4
locations. Please also include a comparison of Site data to the State Water Resources Control
Board's Low Threat Underground Storage Tank Case Closure Policy (LTCP) criteria.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding comments in this letter please contact the
undersigned at (916) 464-4615 or by email at alan.buehler@waterboards.ca.gov.
cc: Sriram lyer, State Water Resources Control Board, Cleanup Fund, Sacramento
Michael Keith, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Scott Bittinger, Stratus Environmental Inc., Cameron Park
