Lor Xiong [EH]
From: Scott <SBittinger@stratusinc.net >
Sent: Thursday, November 30, 2017 1:06 PM
To: Lor Xiong [EH]
Cc: cpruner@greggdrilling.com
Subject: RE: Permits for 2057 S. El Dorado and 2049 South San Joaquin
So with the CPT, the goal of the project is to determine the vertical extent of impact to groundwater. So each sampling
boring will encounter groundwater.
The boreholes are relatively small in diameter (2-inches). So what they do is pour grout through the center of the CPT
rods so that the grout has a direct path to the bottom of the hole. It's essentially the same principal as a tremie pipe.
The amount of water in the borehole will be very small, because of the diameter of the hole. The amount of water will
probably be so small that it wouldn't be of sufficient quantity to require containment at the surface (basically, water
shouldn't overtop the top of the CPT rods, because there is a 25' vadose zone).
If you have specific questions about equipment, it might be best to communicate directly with Gregg Drilling. I've
attached Chris Pruner's e-mail to this response, and maybe he can provide any other information you need to approve
the permits.
Scott
From: Lor Xiong [EH] [mailto:Ixiong@sjcehd.corn]
Sent: Thursday, November 30, 2017 12:58 PM
To: Scott
Subject: RE: Permits for 2057 S. Please give me a brief description of what method you will used.
Thanks
Lor Xiong, REHS
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 E.
