The North County Sanitary Landfill Access Road Development and
Modules 1 & 2 Preparation has been completed, and Modules 1 & 2
are ready to accept waste. However, the recycling center will not
be completed until approximately February of 1992. The following
presents the operational plan for the North County Sanitary
Landfill for approximately the next six months.
The first lift will be approximately three feet thick and will
consist of selected waste from San Joaquin County landfills and
transfer stations. This selected waste will be pre-sorted to
remove sharp objects which could have the potential to damage the
liner. The first lift will cover the entire module and will be in
place before the rainy season begins.
A second lift of 8 feet will be placed in the southeast 1/4 of the
module. The lift will be covered and chip sealed to provide a pad
for winter operations. Waste can be pushed off the pad onto the
lower lift throughout the winter of 1991-92.
Operations will continue as described above until the Recycling
Center is completed.
