The groundwater sample will be collected using Geoprobee direct-push
technology; the direct-push boring will be advanced until groundwater is encountered, or to a
maximum depth of 40 feet below ground surface. A temporary PVC casing will be placed in the
borehole to facilitate sample collection. Following collection, the casing will be removed and
backfilled with neat cement grout.
Upon collection, the groundwater sample will placed into laboratory-provided sample
containers. The containers will be labeled with a sample identification, sample location, date
and time of collection, and sampler's identification. The groundwater sample will then be placed
in an ice-cooled chest and submitted under documented chain-of-custody to Torrent
Laboratory, Inc., a State-certified laboratory based in Milpitas, California.
TABLE 2: Groundwater Analytical Test Methods, Sample Container, Preservation, and Holding
Time Requirements
PARAMETER PRESERVATIVE HOLDING TIME EPA METHOD # CONTAINER
GROUNDWATER
TPH-Gasoline & VOCs HCL/Ice 14 days 8260 40 ml VOA (3)
TPH-Diesel & Motor Oil Ice 14 Days 8015 1,000 ml Glass
REPORTING
Following completion of the proposed field activities, a summary report, including all analytical
results, will be prepared and submitted electronically to SJCEHD. Data summary tables for soil
gas by location and depth will also be prepared for the Site chemicals of concern. Laboratory
data will be presented in graphical format on figures depicting a site plan with boring locations.
GPS coordinates for all sample locations will be provided to SJCEHD after completion of the
fieldwork activities. Further, field documentation summarizing sampling activities and protocols
will be presented in the report. The report will be signed by both a registered Professional
Engineer and a Certified Hydrogeologist.
SCHEDULE
Sampling is scheduled to take place on January 10, 2018, for a single day. Work will be
conducted between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Laboratory analytical data will be available
approximately three days after the completion of the field exploration. We will notify SJCEHD of
daily progress and understand that SJCEHD representatives may conduct a site visit. A draft
