Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage Existing Septic System One septic system is currently in use on the Site (Plate 2). An additional system no longer in use may also be present, as discussed below. Proposed Septic System A new septic system will be constructed to serve the new house. On-Site Septic Permit History The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were searched for the Site address. One permit, dated April 1984, was identified. The permit indicated a new residential system to serve a mobile home (no longer on site). The system included a 1,200-gallon septic tank, two 40-foot leach lines, and two 33-inch diameter by 25-foot deep seepage pits. The permit has been included in Appendix 4 of this report. Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 80 septic systems per square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site. The Site is located in an area of mixed rural residential parcels and agricultural land. A vineyard is located to the north. Septic Permit History in the Vicinity Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the area utilize leach lines and seepage pits. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report. Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage Maximum expected usage on the Site would be from the current and future residents of the Site. Septic system design should be based on the San Joaquin County On-Site Wastewater Treatment Systems Standards (2017) or other engineering recommendations. LOGE 20-59 Page 2
