This alternate would allow the use of crushed rock with
protective geotextile cushion in lieu of the subrounded gravel presently specified(Technical
Specifications Section 02200).
This alternate is proposed because of the potential cost saving to the County by allowing the
contractor to manufacture the LCRS drainage layer from on-site material, rather than importing it
from off-site sources.
I have attached the major specification section revisions and related construction details that
would incorporate this alternate into the contract. I have also attached an analysis by
Emcon/OWT demonstrating the puncture protection and interface stability of this alternate.
Please let us know if this alternate is acceptable. If we hear from you on this matter by
May 21,2003 we will be able to present this as an available option to the contractor on or about
May 28, 2003.
If you have any questions, please call me at (209) 468-3066.
Sincerely,
Q * ; MiLi ca'JI
W.
