Michael Carroll, PE
Senior Civil Engineer
SUBJECT: LANDFILL GAS MONITORING AT NORTH COUNTY RECYCLING
CENTER AND SANITARY LANDFILL
On March 21, 2002, Solid Waste Division staff monitored for landfill gas migration at the
North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill. Results from the First Quarter 2002
Monitoring Event show that all probes and structures are free of methane (Figure 1).
PVC pipes with caps were monitored for methane in accordance with the approved monitoring
plan. The pipes are open at the bottom, and are approximately two feet deep. The County used
a Landtec Gem 500 landfill gas instrument to perform the monitoring. This instrument was
calibrated by County staff prior to the monitoring event.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 468-3066.
MC:NZ:mr
N:\1North County\Gas Monitoring\1 st2002.wpd
Attachment
c: Gino Yekta
California Integrated Waste Management Board
1001 "I" Street
Sacramento, California 95812-4025
LA 63229
