These revisions include the
increase in permitted limit for the landfill height, daily disposal tonnage, and incoming refuse vehicles.
This document also addresses the potential noise impacts from the use of heavy equipment for refuse
disposal. The proposed permit revisions do not include changing the hours of landfill operation (the time
during which refuse is received).
We find ourselves pressed for time, so we would be most grateful to receive your comments within four
weeks of the receipt of this document.
As I mentioned in my phone message, there are statements in the Noise section (Section 3.9, pages 8 and
11) that refer to "extended operating hours" and resulting in "significant impact" due to noise. These
statements are in error, apparently carried over from an early draft of the Initial Study before the noise
evaluation was completed. We are not proposing to change the landfill operating hours at this time, and
any assessment of noise impact would include evaluation of distances to receptors. Please disregard those
paragraphs.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 468-8504.
Sincerely,
W.
