We suspect that the
friction between the loader bucket and the floor was the cause of the fire as there wasn't a sign
of any flammable liquids or substances. The incident was recorded in the site's Special
Occurrence Log.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thank you.
Jaime L. Michael Arboco was operating the Front Loader on the
tipping floor and while pushing trash across the floor he lifted the trash to put it into the transfer trailer and noticed
a fire under his loader blade. One of the Sheriff Inmates grabbed a fire extinguisher off the wall and tried to put
the fire out, as he was doing this another Sheriff Inmate got a bucket of water and through it onto the fire, the fire
started to smoke very badly and we got all the Sheriff Inmates off the tipping floor and evacuated the customers
from the building.
Marcus, Mike Arboco, and the Refuse Workers; Mohammad, and Bernardino put the fire out with fire
extinguishers.
At about 1:35 we had the fire out, we then let the customers go back into the building and we resumed operations.
Marcus
4/27/2007
