7nv?Lineage- <br /> Stockton Maintenance Procedures <br /> Valve Packing Seal Replacement <br /> Objective: This maintenance procedure guides the proper steps for Rotating the Ammonia Pumps. <br /> This procedure provides to the process operator,information steps to safely rotate the ammonia pumps as <br /> Purpose: required by the preventive maintenance. <br /> Careful attention to valve positions is important for safe operation of the ammonia pumps. Among the incidents <br /> that we are trying to prevent are: <br /> Concerns: • Injury tooperator(s). <br /> • Damage to the Pumps and other equipment. <br /> • Over pressurization of the refrigeration system resulting in a release through pressure relief valves or <br /> failure or rupture of lines,tubes,or other equipment and a subsequent release <br /> Location of Equipment: Machinery Room. <br /> Both on-the-job and formal training are required to perform this procedure. <br /> Operator/Technician • Operator I,or equivalent knowledge determined by the Facility Maintenance Manager(FMM)and <br /> Training Requirements: Engineering Department <br /> • Applicable Safe Work Practices,such as Line Break Procedure/Permit,Lockout/Tag-out(LOTO)Program <br /> • Emergency shutdown Procedures <br /> PPE required will be determined by performing a Job Safety Analysis(ISA). Specific Form(LSF.08)can be found <br /> within the EHS Safety Programs. <br /> Personal Protective <br /> Equipment(PPE): List site specific PPE. <br /> (i.e.Eye protection,Respirator,Personal Ammonia Detector Meter,hearing protection,gloves,long pants and <br /> steel toe shoes or boots). <br /> Eye Shower/Eyewash Inside the Engine room,outside the south east exit door,maintenance shop,and condenser area. <br /> Station Location: <br /> If equipment is locked out DO NOT REMOVE LOCK,see your supervisor <br /> Special Cautions and Ammonia Line Break Procedures and Lockout/Tag-out Program Policy and Procedures must be strictly followed. <br /> Procedures: <br /> Ammonia Line Break Procedure and Lockout and Tagout Polity and Procedures can be found within the Safe Work <br /> Practices located in the Operating Procedures(Volume 4)or EHS Safety Programs. <br /> Ammonia inventory and quality control procedures are contained in a separate operating procedure. <br /> Inventory and Quality <br /> Control Measures: Refer to ammonia delivery operations procedures and checklist,located with the Operating Procedures(Volume <br /> 3),section 03. <br /> Safety and Health Ammonia First Aid is included in the SAFETY DATA SHEET(SDS) <br /> Considerations: Please review anhydrous AMMONIA SDS before commencing any of these procedures <br /> Emergency Procedures Follow Facility Emergency Response Plan(ERP)Emergency Action Plan(EAP). <br /> and Evacuation: <br /> Only properly trained refrigeration operators are required to perform this procedure. <br /> Document#: Valve Packing Seal Replacement Procedure Page 1 of 4 <br /> Revision#: 1.0. <br /> Revision date: 04/26/2021 <br />
