Lineage' Emergency Response Plan <br /> Hazardous Materials Releases or Spills <br /> Anhydrous Ammonia <br /> Immediate Actions <br /> 1. If the Ammonia evacuation alarm activates,all personnel must begin evacuating the facility IMMEDIATELY <br /> 2. Evacuation/Shelter-in-place <br /> a. If the release is outside the building: <br /> i. Commence shelter-in-place procedures by proceeding to the designated shelter-in-place area. See <br /> Safe distances and Places of refuge section of this document for specific descriptions of Primary <br /> and Secondary shelter-in-place assembly areas. <br /> ii. Shut all windows,doors and vents. <br /> iii. Turn off all heating and cooling ventilation systems. <br /> b. If the release is inside the building: <br /> i. Personnel will be notified via the Emergency Coordinator where to exit the building when possible. <br /> 1. DO NOT EVACUATE DOWN-WIND (i.e. in the direction of vapor flow). <br /> 2. The wind direction will be communicated verbally in order to direct the evacuation to the <br /> upwind location. <br /> 3. Additionally,wind direction indicators(i.e."wind socks' are prominently positioned in <br /> various exterior locations to provide visual indication of wind direction. <br /> ii. Exit routes are similar to the fire exit routes. <br /> 1. Exiting into or through the refrigeration machine room is prohibited. <br /> 2. Avoid any area with a white cloud appearance. <br /> 3. Avoid all areas with the smell of ammonia. <br /> 4. If there is presence of ammonia in a truck dock area while exiting a freezer,use the rear <br /> freezer exit doors. <br /> iii. The emergency evacuation assembly areas are dependent on the point of release and the direction of <br /> prevailing winds. See Safe distances and Places of refuge section of this document for specific <br /> descriptions of Primary and Secondary assembly areas. <br /> 3. Ensure to notify relevant authorities and/or regulatory agencies in a timely manner. <br /> a. Reporting requirements will vary,based on the building location and composition of surrounding areas,so <br /> facility management is responsible for understanding all directives that are applicable to their site. <br /> b. Contact the National Response Center(NRC),State Emergency Response Commission(SERC) and Local <br /> Emergency Planning Committee(LEPC)within 15 minutes of discovering a reportable quantity has been <br /> released. For further guidance on this matter,contact the Lineage Logistics Compliance Department. <br /> Secondary Actions: <br /> 1. The CMC shall keep a record of all activity.
