The only buffer
credits zone credit allowed is for DPR-approved totally impermeable films (TIF).
This credit allows use of the decreased buffer zone distances in DPR's TIF -
specific buffer zone tables (see next section and Tables 1-4).
DPR-approved The Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) has created a
TIF tarpaulins California -specific list of TIF tarps that qualify to receive a 60% buffer zone
reduction credit for soil fumigant products containing chloropicrin. The
approved TIF list is on the DPR website at
hU://www edprca pov/doeslemon/pubs/tac/chlorop.btm.
County agricultural commissioners may further limit the type of tarpaulin
allowed.
Evaluations of proposed applications near sensitive sites using methods that
result in high humidity conditions under the tarp, such as drip applications,
may indicate the use of either larger buffer zones or use of specific tarp
compositions known to be superior under these conditions.
TO If TIF will be used, either
documentation 1. The NOI must include a copy of the tarp invoice. Confidential
business information on the invoice, such as pricing, can be omitted,
—or—
t. The tarp name and lot number must be. printed on the tarp in a font
size equal to 2-3 inches in height and printed at least I foot from each
edge and at an interval of 20-30 feet along the length of the tarp.
Tarp An application block shall only be covered with tarps in the same
combination permeability category (e.g., two different brands of TIF may be used in an
application block, but an application block cannot be covered with a mix of
TIF and other tarps.)
Conttanred on next page
991
Appendix K— Chloropicrin and Chloropicrin in Combination with Oder Products
(Field Fumigant) fnteriui Recoimnended Permit Conditions (Rev. 1-17)
