The work was performed to assess the potential that fuel may
have been released from these tanks.
SITE BACKGROUND
Introduction
The Owens-Brockway glass manufacturing facility is located at 14700 West Schulte Road in Tracy,
California, (Plate 1). The facility was built in the early 1960s and includes three glass-melting
furnaces,raw material storage,bottle forming,warehousing,and offices(Plate 2). The glass furnaces
run on natural gas with electric power boost and propane backup. Previously the backup fuel was oil,
which was stored in the former ASTs.
Site Setting
The Owens-Brockway facility is located at the western edge of the San Joaquin Valley southwest of
the City of Tracy, California. The area is adjacent to the northern Diablo Range of the Coast Range
geomorphic province. In the area, marine sediments striking to the northwest, and dipping to the
northeast characterize the Diablo Range. Alluvial materials eroded from the adjacent Diablo Range
underlie the site.
AST Soil Sampling Report,Owens-Brockway Tracy 1 September 24,2002
CKG Environmental,Inc.
