Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Dear Ms. Foley:
This letter is to confirm your approval as per our telephone
conversation to send autoclaved sharps waste (using the
Winfield Sharpsgard 2,000 system) to the landfill for
disposal. According to the enclosed letter from Nancy Smith,
Program Advisor for the California Medical Waste Management
Program, all requirements will be met provided the external
carton is placed into a plastic bag prior to the carton being
put into use in order to make it leak -resistant; this is an
interim procedure which will be followed until Winfield
modifies the system to make the carton leak -resistant.
Our plan is to follow the above procedure and begin
autoclaving sharps in the Winfield 2,000 system beginning
Friday, January 22, 1993. If you have any concerns which
would prevent us from following this procedure, please notify
me by January 21, 1993.
Sincerely,
rwete'_&
21 V1 d
Linda Knowles, R.N., M.S., C.I.C.
Nurse Epidemiologist
cc: Infection Control Committee
Dameron Hospital Association
Nancy Smith, Advisor
Medical Waste Management Program
Department of Health Services
601 North 7th Street
P.O.
