DAMERON HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION
525 WEST ACACIA STREET
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
O 95203
June 27, 2002
Kasey L. Foley, R.E.H.S.
Environmental Health Department
San Joaquin County
304 E. Weber Ave
Third Floor
Stockton, CA. 95202-2708
Dear Ms. Foley,
I am writing in response to your annual medical waste inspection on 6/20/02 and the
areas that were reported to be in need of correction. I am pleased to inform you that
immediate changes were implemented regarding the placement of the Bacillus
stearothermophilus biological pack and the documentation of the appropriate actions
taken when the time and temperature per load is not reached.
I have inserviced all EVS personnel who directly operate the San -I -Pak sterilizer in
regards to the changes that are being implemented. We have reviewed the enclosed San -
I -Pak Operating procedure and specifically reviewed the highlighted portions regarding
those areas that were in need of correction. Also, those personnel in Lead positions have
reviewed this information and have been instructed to follow-up periodically to see that
the procedure is being followed correctly.
For your information, the hook on the Bacillus stearothermophilus pack cradle has been
removed so that the pack can no longer be hung. It will now be placed in the middle of
the load as you instructed.
i hope that this effort is adequate to satisfy our need to comply with local health
regulations. If you should have any questions or comments please feel free to contact
Linda Knowles or myself.
Again, it was a pleasure to see you and to discover that we share a common name for our
two sons.
Sincerely,
4'11__ _...; -
Dennis Gorton ZS :11 W Z "'rjr eo
Director, Environmental Services
