ENTRADA A PERSONAS NO AUTORIZADAS" <br />Biohazard bags and filled sharps containers shall not be stored for more than 7 days at a <br />temperature above 32 degrees Fahrenheit. This 7 day period begins when any waste has been <br />placed in the bag or container for storage purposes. <br />All reusable rigid containers that are used for accumulation, transportation and storage of <br />medical waste shall be washed and decontaminated every time they are emptied, unless the <br />container surfaces have been completely protected from contamination by disposable liners or <br />bags; containers shall be washed and decontaminated when they are visibly soiled. <br />Surfaces are washed and decontaminated with a germicidal (tuberculocidal) detergent solution; <br />the solution should be allowed contact with the surface for a minimum of 10 minutes. <br />Medical Waste Treatment and Disposal Method: <br />Dameron Hospital treats medical waste on-site using steam sterilization via a Sani-Pak unit. All <br />solid waste is removed by a municipal waste hauler. <br />All chemotherapeutic, pathologic and pharmaceutical wastes will be picked up at least weekly <br />by Stericycle medical waste hauler and transported to the off-site treatment facility identified <br />below. Records of medical waste transported to Stericycle will be kept by the Facility <br />Hazardous Chemical Coordinator and retained for a minimum of three years. <br />Emergency Action Plan: <br />While it is highly unlikely that the company would experience a shutdown of operations, <br />contingencies include use of an alternate hauler or retention of the medical waste for not more <br />than 7 days from the point of generation above 0 degrees Centigrade (32 degrees Fahrenheit). <br />Another contingency for less well-defined emergency situations would be to contact the <br />Environmental Health Division -Medical Waste Management Program of San Joaquin Public <br />Health Services for recommendations <br />Spills are cleaned up by removing gross contamination and then disinfecting the area utilizing a <br />germicidal (tuberculocidal) detergent solution with a contact time of ten (10) minutes. <br />Waste Hauler: Stericycle Incorporated <br />11875 White Rock Road <br />Rancho Cordova, CA 95742 <br />Waste Treatment Facility: Same <br />Recordkeeping: <br />Records of medical waste transported to Stericycle will be kept by the Facility Hazardous <br />Chemical Coordinator and retained for a minimum of three years. <br />VII References: <br />
