Plan- Medical Waste Managem nt Program Page 4 of 12 <br /> III. Fundamentals: <br /> The types of medical waste generated and covered by this plan include: <br /> 1. BLOOD OR BODY FLUIDS -Liquid blood elements or other regulated body fluid,or articles <br /> contaminated with blood or body fluids. <br /> 2. SHARPS -Actually or potentially-contaminated syringes,needles, blades, broken glass. <br /> 3. ISOLATION WASTE- Waste contaminated with excretion, exudate,or secretions from humans <br /> who are isolated due to highly communicable diseases. <br /> 4. CHEMOTHERAPEUTIC WASTE-Trace amounts of chemotherapeutic waste. <br /> 5. PATHOLOGY WASTE-Recognizable human anatomical parts, human surgery specimens or <br /> tissues. <br /> 6. PHARMACEUTICAL WASTE—Prescription or over-the-counter human drugs including,but not <br /> limited to, a drug as defined by Section 109925 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act; does <br /> not include items regulated by Federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act or Radiation <br /> Control Law. <br /> 7. BIOHAZARDOUS WASTE -Per California Health& Safety Code Section- <br /> 117690. <br /> IV.
