SAN JOAQUIN
,2
C O U N T Y
Greatness grows here.
September 23, 2021
Don Chesney, PE
Chesney Consulting
P.O. Box 3794
Turlock, CA 95381
RE: Soil Suitability/Nitrate Loading Study
17454 Von Sosten Rd., Tracy
APN: 209-460-10, SR0084240
Environmental Health Department
Jasjit Kang, REHS, Director
Muniappa Naidu, REHS, Assistant Director
PROGRAM COORDINATORS
Robert McClellon, REHS
Jeff Carruesco, REHS, RDI
Willy Ng, REHS
Melissa Nissim, REHS
Steven Shih. REHS
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil Suitability/Nitrate
Loading (SSNL) Study, dated September 17, 2021 and has the following comments for your consideration.
The SSNL Study was prepared to determine the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater
treatment system (OWTS) usage and the potential long-term impact of nitrate to groundwater from the
proposed accessory dwelling unit (ADLI).
Based on the information provided, the EHD can make the following findings:
1. EHD will require an oversized 2,000 -gallon septic tank for installation of a standard Onsite Wastewater
Treatment System.
2. Percolation test conducted on August 23, 2019 yielded a percolation rate of 50 minutes/inch. At this
rate, a five-foot soil separation shall be required between bottom of dispersal field and groundwater
pursuant to San Joaquin County Onsite Wastewater Treatment Standard table 1.10.2. Per the San
Joaquin County Water Resource Lines of Equal Depth to Ground Water Map of Fall 2015, groundwater
on site is reported between 30 and 40 feet below surface grade.
3. The OWTS and its 100% replacement areas shall meet all required minimum setbacks stated in San
Joaquin County (OWTS) Standard and Well Standard.
If you have any questions please contact Michael Suszycki, Senior Registered Environmental Health
Specialist, at msuszycki@sjgov.org or (209) 598-7001.
Steven hih, REHS
Program Coordinator
c: Lakhbir Singh Sahota, 17454 Von Sosten Rd., Tracy, CA. 95304
1868 E.
