Section DA <br />Suggested Permit Conditions for Phenoxy/Dicamba <br />Introduction The following requirements apply to Dicamba; 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic <br />acid (2,4-D); 2,4-dichlorophenoxybutyric acid (2,4 -DB); <br />2,4-didblorophenoxypropionic acid (2,4 -DP); and <br />2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid (MCPA) herbicides when used on rice <br />grown below 1,000 feet elevation in the following areas of the Sacramento <br />Valley: <br />• All of Butte, CoIusa, Glenn, Placer, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba Counties; <br />• The portion of Sacramento County situated north of Highway 80; and <br />• The portion of Tehama County situated west of the Sacramento River. <br />General General application conditions follow: <br />application A. A 24-hour Notice of Intent is required for all applications. <br />conditions B. No applications shall be made when the temperature at four (4) feet above <br />the ground exceeds 90 degrees Fahrenheit (90°F) or as required by the <br />registered product use label, whichever is the most restrictive. <br />C. No herbicide in an ester form shall be applied, unless expressly authorized <br />by a permit issued by the commissioner. <br />D. Unless expressly authorized by permit, no application shall be made on <br />rice within two miles of any cultivated commercial cotton, grape, or <br />pistachio planting. <br />E. All applicators shall comply with the following good agricultural practices <br />before each application to reduce the possibility of drift with non -target <br />sites: <br />1. Proper boom pressure. <br />2. Proper nozzle size. <br />3. Relationship of boom pressure and nozzle size on droplet size and <br />drift. <br />4. Proper discharge height above the target crop/site. <br />5. Effects of excessive boom length and unstable equipment on coverage <br />and drift. <br />6. Climatic effects such as air temperature, weather, and inversion <br />conditions on drift. <br />Continued on next page <br />(Rev. 5-14) D-14 <br />
