). H. KLEINFELDER & ASSOCIATES File No. S-1805-2
May 5 , 1975
PAGE TWO
FIELD STUDIES
The test borings were drilled at this site on April 24,
1975 . The borings were made at the approximate locations
shown on the Plot Plan, Plate I . All borings were drilled
with 6-inch diameter continuous flight-auger type drilling
equipment .
The soil conditions encountered at the points explored
in the borings consist of a surface stratum of brown sandy
clay which extends to depths of approximately 3 to 32 feet
below the present ground surface . This soil is underlain
by interbedded strata of brown sandy silt and very silty fine
sand, with some cemented zones , to approximate depths of 14
to 16 feet. Below that depth, the soil grades to brown fine
to medium sand to approximate depths of 22 to 23 feet . Below
that depth, strata of brown sandy silt were encountered which
extend to the maximum depths explored.
Groundwater was not encountered in any of the borings
drilled for this study. It is possible , however, that the
groundwater conditions at this site could vary at some time
in the future due to changes in rainfall, groundwater with-
drawal, or other factors not apparent at the time our borings
were made .
The above is a general summary of the soil conditions
encountered in the four exploratory borings made for this
study. More detailed descriptions of the soils are given on
Plates III through VI. All soils have been classified according
to the Unified Soil Classification System, described on Plate II.
