State Inspection- Foothill Sanitary Landfill Page 5
Facilitv No.- 39-AA-0005
COMMENTS:
Overall site conditions and operations were excellent. I observed that cover, suitable for
a textbook example, had been applied to the active face the previous operating day. Inter-
mediate cover of an equally high calibre had also been placed over previously active areas
of the landfill (see map) .
Area of Concern:
14 CCR 17705 Gas Control- At the time of the inspection (8/4/92), Board staff using a
combustible gas indicator (CGI), obtained gas readings as high as 440 parts per million
(ppm) along the southern exterior foundation of the supervisor's residence located at the
landfill (see map) .
During a follow-up investigation on August 21, 1992, Board staff using two CGIs and San
Joaquin County Public Works staff using a CGI, obtained gas readings as high as 380 ppm
along the southern exterior foundation of the residence. At this time, Board and County
Public Works staff monitored the interior space of the residence for the presence of gas.
No gas (o ppm) was detected along the interior southern wall of the residence nor any other
interior space monitored.
Waste Management Specia 0_
